Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is a trained and published neuroanatomist, who specializes in the postmortem investigation of the human brain. She served for 3 years on the board of directors of the national NAMI organization (National Alliance on Mental Illness) between 1994-1997. She travels extensively as the National Spokesperson for the Mentally Ill for the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center (Harvard Brain Bank), bringing awareness to the severe shortage of brain tissue donations for postmortem research of individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.
In an unfortunate ironic twist, on December 10, 1996, Dr. Taylor woke up to discover that she was experiencing a rare form of stroke, an arterio-venous malformation (AVM). Three weeks later, she underwent major brain surgery to remove a golf ball size hemorrhage that was placing pressure on the language centers in the left hemisphere of her brain.
For the past ten years, Dr. Taylor has been successfully rebuilding her brain - from the inside out. Richard Branson was born in 1950, and educated at Stowe School, where he established a national magazine called Student at the age of sixteen. Paving the Way as a Leader in the Health Sector
Prior to being appointed as the New York State Health Commissioner, Dr. Antonia Coello Novello, M.D., M.P.H., Dr.P.H. served as the 14th Surgeon General of the U.S. Public Health Service and was sworn in by Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor on March 9, 1990. Dr. Novello became the first woman and the first Hispanic ever to hold this position. As Surgeon General, Dr. Novello advised the public on health matters, such as smoking, AIDS, diet and nutrition, environmental health hazards, and the importance of immunization and disease prevention. She also directed the activities of the 6,100 members of the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. On June 3, 1999 Dr. Novello was nominated by Governor George F. Pataki to be the thirteenth New York State Health Commissioner. As New York State Health Commissioner, Dr. Novello’s responsibilities included monitoring Medicaid, Child Health Plus and Family Health Plus programs; Youth Tobacco Enforcement and Prevention; regulation of hospitals, nursing homes and home health agencies; Managed Care, Bio-terrorism Preparedness and professional medical conduct. Dr. Novello also serves as the President of Health Research, Inc.

Roland Fryer
Assistant Professor of Economics at Harvard University
Economist Roland Fryer was first brought to the public eye when The New York Times ran a profile of him, entitled "Toward a Unified Theory of Black America" in March of 2005. This portrait etched out the struggles of Fryer's childhood, where he was exposed to drugs, crime and parental abandonment. Despite his birth into a life of poverty Fryer received an athletic scholarship to the University of Texas at Arlington and graduated in a mere 2.5 years. He then pursued his Ph.D. in economics from Penn State.
